Peak District – Bleaklow Stones Wild Camp

In this video my friend Rich and I meet up at Bamford for a walk and a wild camp to see if we can spot the Perseids Meteor Shower. We had a very rough plan, meet up at Bamford at around lunch time and then head somewhere to camp away from the summer crowds. The only way to do this is to put some miles under your feet in order to stay away from the hot spots like Kinder and the famous edges. We decided that Bleaklow Stones, Grinah Stones or possibly Barrow Stones would be the best idea as these Read more [...]

Peak District – Kinder Scout Wild Camp in the Luxe HexPeak

For the first outing in my new Luxe HexPeak v4a I arranged an overnight Peak District adventure with my friend Rich aka UKWildCamper on YouTube, we met up at the Rambler in Edale for a quick pre walk drink before leaving the warmth of the open fire and heading off out in to the elements. The forecast had threatened heavy rain but we had no intentions of cancelling as we both wanted to test out some new bits of kit. I wanted to test the HexPeak before my Tasmania trip and Rich wanted to test out Read more [...]

Peak District – Bivvy Wild Camp in the Dark Peak

In this video my friend Jay and I set out from Hope and head up the old Roman Road towards the forest surrounding Wooler Knoll. We had come to visit a spot that I'd camped at in my Wild Country Zephyros a few years ago but this time we had arrived armed with our bivvy bags. I was testing out my new Alpkit Hunka XL and Jay was in his trusty Army Issue Goretex bag. I've been very happy with the Hunka so far and I'm looking forward to seeing how long it lasts in comparison to my 10 year old Read more [...]

Peak District – Winter Camp at Crookstone Knoll on Kinder Scout

This weeks mini Peak District adventure was a last minute winter wild camp at Crookstone Knoll on Kinder Scout. I spotted a nice little weather window so packed my kit and headed to Hope. I walked up via the Roman Road to Hope Cross as fast as my legs could carry me as it was a race against time. I had initially planned that I would be up at my camp spot ready for sunset but sadly time was against me during the day and I had set off a little later than I wanted to. The sun was dipping Read more [...]

Peak District – Thirst House Cave – Bivvy Wild Camp

So, I've got a few items on a list of places and situations I'd like to wild camp in. One of my aims for 2015 was to camp up a tree, when I say camp up a tree I probably mean just sling up a hammock somewhere high up in th branches and sleep there for the night. Another item on my list was to sleep in a cave, that cave was to be Thirst House (also known as Hob Thirst's) and the time was to be tonight. My friends Ray, Jay and I headed for Chelmorton where we left the car then walked down Deep Dale Read more [...]

Peak District – Wild Camping above the clouds on Kinder Scout

This weeks mini adventure will officially go down as my favourite ever solo wilds camp in the glorious Peak District, all the conditions were perfect to make it a night to remember. I arrived in Edale to clear skies and as I walked up Kinder Scout the mist / cloud began to roll up the valley and over the Great Ridge. I spent a mesmerising 7-8 hours time lapsing everything I could see from cloud inversions to the moon and stars. If every wild camp in the future was exactly like this, then I would Read more [...]

Peak District – Wild Camping – Dovedale Tarp & Bivvy

In this video I meet up with my friend Rich for an overnighter on a hill above Dovedale, a #MicroAdventure style trip. we met up at Ilam and had a great walk through Dovedale to Milldale and then went for a few beverages at the George Inn at Alstonefield while we waited for the day walking crowds to disperse. At around we 8pm we made our way back to Dovedale and found a fantastic little spot overlooking the dale itself. A great night was had and we awoke to a fantastic display of cloud and mist Read more [...]

Bushcraft – Chatsworth, Hob Hurst’s House & Forest Wild Camp

In this video I catch the bus to Baslow and then have a gentle stroll through the picturesque Chatsworth Estate. I follow the River Derwent down towards Beeley and then head up on to the moors to visit Hob Hurst's House which is a 3,000 year old burial mound. From there I make my way over to our usual forest camp location to meet up with Jay, Tiny and Mark. A great night was had by all and not even the rain was enough to dampen our spirits. Peak District – Winter Tarp & Bivvy Wild Camp on White Edge

This video sees my friend Graeme (aka Black73Cat) and I head out for a windy and wintry wild camp on White Edge in the glorious Peak District. We had planned this overnighter around a week earlier but in the days leading up to it the UK was battered by high winds. I had my Terra Nova Adventure 2 Tarp again and it was the first outing for my Osprey Exos 48 bag that I purchased before Christmas. It was also the first outing for my new hand grip for the GoPro that my friend Matt kindly made for Read more [...]

Peak District – Wild Camping – Monsal Dale & Fin Cop

This week my friend Ray and I decided to head out for a last minute wild camp in the Glorious Peak District. I had been day dreaming about a certain spot for weeks which would require a bit of stealth as it was a rather cheeky location. We packed our bivvys, grabbed food and headed of towards Bakewell. Whenever I choose a wild camping spot in the Peaks it's always a trade off between 2 factors, how far we want to walk and how safe and considerate is the parking place. In this case I decided that Read more [...]
