Peak District – Monsal Trail & The DJI Phantom 4

In this video we walk along the Monsal Trail from Bakewell to Millers Dale then back via Litton Mill and Cressbrook. I took my DJI Phantom 4 for it's first flight in the Peak District, we captured some great views of the Headstone Viaduct and even flew it though the headstone tunnel. After the flight through the dale I packed the drone away safely as the rain that had been forecasted started to arrive. We then walked down the trail to Millers Dale station for some much needed refreshments, Read more [...]

Peak District – Mountain Biking – Parsley Hay & Millers Dale

In this video I met up with my mate Andy at Parsley Hay on the High Peak Trail with my mountain bike, we had decided to follow a route he had done before that was plotted in his Garmin 800 GPS. It takes in some great locations and some nice bits of downhill too, my bike isn't 100% up to the job but Andy's Santa Cruz Bronson was more than ready. We set off from Parlsey Hay up the High Peak Trail, then took the Pennine Bridleway down in to Chee Dale. We then climbed back out of the valley and joined Read more [...]

Peak District – Wild Camping – Monsal Dale & Fin Cop

This week my friend Ray and I decided to head out for a last minute wild camp in the Glorious Peak District. I had been day dreaming about a certain spot for weeks which would require a bit of stealth as it was a rather cheeky location. We packed our bivvys, grabbed food and headed of towards Bakewell. Whenever I choose a wild camping spot in the Peaks it's always a trade off between 2 factors, how far we want to walk and how safe and considerate is the parking place. In this case I decided that Read more [...]

Cromford Canal – Cromford to Langley Mill – History Walks

Cromford Wharf This is the first video in a series i'm going to call History Walks, this instalment sees me walk the entire length of what was once the Cromford Canal in Derbyshire. The Canal once stretched some 14.5 miles from Cromford in the Derwent Valley to Langley Mill in the Erewash Valley. The 33 minute video documents my journey along this iconic waterway, I traced the original route as closely as possible and show you some of the highlights along the way. I hope you enjoy it 🙂 If you would like to Read more [...]

Peak District – MTB & GoPro – High Peak Trail

This is a rather large video of a great ride along the High Peak Trail on a glorious sunny day. I was armed with my GoPro Hero 3 Silver Edition and I managed to capture some of the highlights along the way. We started at the High Peak Junction and cycled to the northern end and then back. The best bit by far was the downhill section at the end from Middleton Top to the Cromford Canal... Enjoy 🙂 Read more [...]

Peak District – Limestone Way – Matlock to Castleton

Ever since my journey along the southern half of the Pennine Way (The Pennine Way – 7 Days from Edale to Thwaite – April 2013) I've been trying to get out wild camping as much as possible. I love the freedom of being able to pitch anywhere (with in reason) and enjoy my surroundings. I have been out on numerous trips since the Pennine Way but nothing with much mileage, I've just been heading out from home on my bike or parking my car in the Peak District. I've had a #MicroAdventure, I've spent Read more [...]

The Pennine Way – 7 Days from Edale to Thwaite

This is an HD video of my Pennine Way adventure in April 2013, we walked for 7 Days from Edale to Thwaite and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I uploaded a lot of this footage in daily updates but this is the full HD version. Thank you to everyone who followed at the time and I hope to venture back again soon to tick of the northern half of this great trail. In the next few weeks I will be updating the existing Pennine Way posts with images from my DSLR. I will also be doing a summary Read more [...]

Peak District – Derwent Valley Heritage Way

Derwent Valley Heritage Way - Canal at Shardlow For a long time now I've felt the need to walk the length of the River Derwent, simply because it has featured in many of my great childhood memories. I thought that I could call the walk "City to Source", I'd walk from Derby all the way up to Swaines Greave high in the Peak District. When I finally decided to give it a go I went online and did a little bit of research. I found that there was already a way marked route that did exactly what I wanted to do, the route in question is the Derwent Valley Read more [...]

Peak District – Monsal Trail

Litton Tunnel The weather this summer has been terrible, that is no understatement, it really has been rubbish. I know it must be digitally programmed into our British DNA to complain about the weather but this year it really is a valid complaint. We have had the odd day here and there where it has been nice but it always seems to fall when i'm at work :-). I can't let a little thing like the weather stop me from getting out into the Peak District though, I simply had to adjust my expectations a little and just Read more [...]

Peak District – Bakewell and Monsal Loop

I have just returned home from another rather impromptu walk in the glorious Peak District. This time we headed for the White Peak, Bakewell to be precise. I had been wanting to do a walk in that area for some time but the lure of the slightly more mountainous feel of the Dark Peak pulls me back every time, we only had limited time so it was the perfect choice as it's a short ride from home. We parked the car near Bakewell Station and set off along the Monsal Trail, I haven't walked along Read more [...]
